To help the high-strung, tense patient cope with her problems, Butisol Sodium butabarbital sodium can be used to restore calm without appreciable daytime drowsiness or impairment of mental processes.
In a "clinical re-evaluation" of daytime sedatives, Butisol Sodium butabarbital sodium provided the highest rating (therapeutic index).* Unlike phenobarbital, it does not tend to produce cumulative toxicity.
Cautions and Side Effects: At daytime sedative dosage levels, drowsiness, skin rash, "hangover" and systemic disturbances are seldom seen. To be used with caution in moderate to severe hepatic disease. If a hypersensitivity reaction should occur, discontinue use. (Warning: May be habit forming.)
